b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_6012-640x480.jpgMy friends, welcome to My Own Italy to discover Italy with my personal touch!

Let's continue our travel exploring the peaks of the Aosta Valley.

Today we are in Gressoney La Trinitè and I invite you to go up to over two thousand three hundred meters and enjoy a landscape of exceptional beauty: let's admire the Mount Rosa from the valley of Lake Gabiet.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_5973-640x480.jpg Gressoney LaTrinité is located at the bottom of Mount Rosa, in the Lys Valley (also known as the Valley of Gressoney) which is characterized by having preserved most of the houses depicting the Walser buildings.

If you are staying at the Chalet du Lys you can start from an altitude of 1,800 meters, using the facilities of the cable lift Staffal-Gabiet in Gressoney La Trinité.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_5977-640x480.jpg After a climb of 15 minutes you get to the Valley of the lake Gabiet (2371 m): it is located in a beautiful valley and surrounded by numerous peaks and offers an extraordinary view of the Mount Rosa.

You can in fact admire the tops of the Breithorn, the Castor (4221 meters) and Pollux, and the Lyskamm too.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_6001-640x479.jpg The dam, which forms the potting of Lake Gabiet is a gravity-based structure in massive stone masonry with cement mortar.
It belongs to the hydrographic basin of the river Lys, the waterway is the river Lys intercepted, the construction of the dam began in 1919 and ended in 1922. The complex fuels the Gressoney.

Once you reach the top you can explore the valley choosing among several wonderful hiking: all beautiful and inspiring, they invite to silence to hear the call of the marmots, so numerous in this valley!
