b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8095.JPG My friends, welcome to My Own Italy to discover Italy with my personal touch!

Our travel today is to Tuscany to discover the  Castiglioncello Bay.

The ‘Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea' is waiting for us, so follow me and go!

Down the road along the Tuscan Riviera, lulled by the fast corners and games of light and shadow that the pines throw on the asphalt, moving away from Versilia and going towards Grosseto, you can't miss a stop in the Bay of Castiglioncello, in Rosignano Marittimo,  in the province of Livorno.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8123.JPGThe clear sea, with its colors that fade from emerald green to deep blue, awarded with the Blue Flag by the EEC, along with the towns of the coast for its quality of water and services, wet 90+ km of this land.

Castiglioncello was an ancient Etruscan village, overlooking a small promontory which is the latest offshoot of the mountains of Livorno.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8114.JPG "The Pearl of the Tyrrhenian Sea" is a tourist resort of international prestige and indisputable beauty; it has a very unique charm. In the Etruscan Coast the colors and scents of Tuscany mix the lights and aromas of the Mediterranean.

Red cliffs overlooking the sea, sheltered bays, coves and beaches washed by crystal clear waters; here there are typical seaside resorts, and also a walk, joining the striking Punta Righini to the Marina of Rosignano, passing through the beautiful Pineta Marradi.

The Etruscan civilization left important evidence, including the unique necropolis built facing the sea.

The landing place of Castiglioncello is for all pleasure boaters an excellent starting point for excursions into the sea: well organized yacht clubs provide an excellent assistance.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8137.JPG On the central square of Castiglioncello, Victory Square, surrounded by green pine trees, stands the shape of the Pasquini Castle, built in the late nineteenth century by Baron Fausto Lazzaro Patrone.

In recent years the castle has become a national focal point for major conferences on the topics of childhood, as well as the seat of the traditional Festival of Dance and Literary Award Castiglioncello-Etruscan Coast.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8136.JPGCastiglioncello, due to its beauty, has inspired artists, painters, writers and poets.

Castiglioncello became a famous touristic destination  in the second half of the nineteenth century, when due to its mild climate and the beauty of the landscape, Diego Martelli, art critic and patron of the arts, established here his residence.

He invited here, until the end of the century, almost all the painters, who later became famous, of the Group of Macchiaoli giving origin to an artistic period known as the School of Castiglioncello.

b2ap3_thumbnail_IMG_8135.JPG  Castiglioncello has always been a popular destination for celebrities belonging to the world of art, culture, entertainment and also italian cinema, as Marcello Mastroianni and Alberto Sordi.

In the sixties Castiglioncello also housed the set of the famous film by Dino Risi "Il sorpasso", starring Vittorio Gassman and Jean-Louis Trintignant.

Castiglioncello is today one of the most famous tourist destinations, known as in Italy and abroad for the beauty of its landscape, the quality and elegance of its services and because of the value of the offer of cultural initiatives and associations that are organized just here.

In recent years, the artistic productions related to Macchiaoli were valued and an exploration of contemporary and ethnic trends began.

Since 1992 Castiglioncello scored more times the award of the Blue Flag by FEE, which stands for the Foundation for Environmental Education

In the end, Castiglioncello is a can't miss destination for your holidays, and a delightful stopover for leisure and relaxation.

Anyway, if you need any suggestion for your dinner here a place WHERE TO EAT.

Well, my personal experience was so good, and I was enchanted by the beauty of this magic place.

Leisure me: this is my tourism!
